Annotation
This article examines the relationship between perceived parent-child relationships and girls’ propensity for risky sexual behavior. The relevance of this study is due to the increasing prevalence of behaviors that potentially threaten the physical and psychological well-being of young women, as well as the insufficient study of subjective family experience as a factor in the formation of these behavioral strategies. The empirical study was conducted using the “Teenagers About Parents” method (Wasserman, Gorkovaya, Romitsyna, 2002), the authors’ questionnaire, and the Sexual Attitudes Questionnaire (Eysenk, H.J., & Eysenk, S. B. G., 1971). The results indicate significant links between the severity of risky sexual behavior and characteristics of parental interactions, primarily hostility, directiveness, and inconsistency, especially on the part of the father. Warm, engaged, and supportive family relationships were found to be associated with a lower propensity for risky intimate behavior. The study results emphasize the importance of early family experiences in shaping attitudes toward one’s own body, intimacy, and partner choice.
