Annotation

Military conflict is closely associated with irreparable losses of personnel. The loss of a loved one is a devastating experience for a family. This article examines the specifics of loss in the context of military operations, as well as the risks of developing pathological grief. It provides an overview of international and domestic approaches to understanding grief and loss, as well as the stages and tasks of grieving. The author discusses the characteristics of maternal and spousal grief, highlights the differences in their objectives, and provides practical recommendations for working with grief, taking into account family roles, the nature of emotional attachment and the social context.
