This study evaluates changes in emotional state among Chinese students enrolled at universities in Saint Petersburg after participating in a short-term psychological support group. The program comprised two cycles with two sessions each (Dec 17–18, 2024; Apr 14 and 21, 2025). Participants (N=19) assessed their “emotional state” using a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) twice—immediately before the first session and right after the second session. Distribution normality was examined with the Shapiro–Wilk test, and pre–post comparisons of subjective ratings were conducted using a paired Student’s t-test. A statistically significant increase was observed for “emotional state” (Δ=+1.1 on a 0–10 scale; t(18)=5.42; p<0.001). Analysis of individual change indicated improvement in 15 group participants, stability in three, and a slight decrease in one student. These findings suggest that group psychological support is an effective resource for enhancing international students’ emotional well-being and may be implemented in university counseling services with ongoing VAS-based monitoring of participants’ emotional state.
